The letter is enclosing a copy of a letter from William Eatwell, Captain of the HC Cruizer Benares , dated 25 December 1818. The enclosed communication conveys a complaint about the pilot Hage Kalfan, and provides examples of his lack of knowledge and skill. It is further requested that the said pilot not be offered further employment with the East India Company's cruizers.
