In this letter, received 10 November 1779, William Digges Latouche and George Abraham report on changes in government in Bagdat [Baghdad] and Bussora [Basra]. They state that all is quiet and that the Chief of the Chaub [Bani Ka'ab] has given his word to the Governor, Solimon Aga [Süleyman Pasha An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. ], not to interrupt trade to and from Bussora.
