DISCIPLINE
— 1772. It is to be clearly understood th: t sentries and look out men are not to be
allowed to sit down on their posts, except where they are actually exposed to the
enemy s fire, and in such cases, cover to enable them to stand is to be provided with
the least possible delay. If permission to sit down is given, it often follows that the
individual concerned falls asleep on his post, and cases of this nature, involving almost
the most serious offence on active service, have recently necessitated trial by Court
Martial on a capital charge.
FUEL FOR
INCINERATORS
1773. Flies have been found breeding in the litter used for the incineration of
excreta. Such litter, during the drying process, should not be heaped, but spread out
evenly and thinly in the sun. More than 48 hours supply of undried litter should not
be collected at these incinerators.
GUARDS
1774. Guards, when they turn out, are to be correctly dressed, and are to wear
their helmets or other regimental head-dress.

1776. Approval is given for the issue of the undermentioned equipment to
Infantry Battalions with Army Troops and Divisions, for use of bombing parties:—

Torches electric .. 5 I Flares .. • * 25
Indents on the Ordnance Department should be submitted in the usual manner,
and supply will be made as the stores become available.
1777 Field Post Office No. 351 was opened on 13th November, 1016, at Kumba
(Mobammerah), to serve the Convalescent Depot.
