Id motor launches. These boats will have to be built. Second-hand boats not
available. We can build within 3 months. Telegraph amount of dead-weight
number of people to be carried, speed . required; state whether 2 feet draught
loaded must be adhered to. strictly as impossible to construct very satisfactory
launch of this draught if dimensions as to length and breadth must be adhered to.

August 13th.
Situation quiet on Tigris line. 3 of our machines were attacked by hostile
Fokker which was driven off and brought down. It was then fired on by our
guns and one wing was damaged, and it is hoped that when light improves this
evening the destruction will be completed. Our artillery twice drove off the
Turks who attempted to salve the machine. One pilot wounded—Lieutenant
Rodney, Royal Navy.
No change on Euphrates line.
