Prisoners of war.
The first party of about 350 Austro-Hungarian prisoners of war was to
leave Askbabad for Krasnovodsk on Feb-
. • l0243 - ruary 8th for repatriation. About 30 of
these are from east of the Oxus.
The intimation that we have received from S. of S. of withdrawal from
Trans-Caspia necessitates our keeping up the E. P. L. of C. to maintain a force
at Meshed, in order to prevent Bolshevic incursions into Persia, lime aion
can shew whether this will be an easy or a difficult matter.

Lord Curzon has now wired intimating that H. M. Government propose
j) T withdrawal of troops from S. Persia and
112-19. the Bushire hinterland before the summer.
The method and time of this withdrawal has yet to be settled.
