I. The following Indian Infantry Battalions have been selected to form
the post-bellum garrison of Mesopotamia so far as its strength is at present
known, and allow five battalions for Mesoootamia L. of C., in which connec
tion please see our telegram of January 3 rd, No. 614 (S. D.-l).
Every possible consideration has been given to the length of time spent
in the field in the several theatres by each unit, but it will be realised and
should be explained to the unit that other governing factors in regard to re
organisation, the strength of post war Army, and requirements generally
have also had to be taken into account.

II. Special attention will be given to the early relief of the following

III. Any men in excess of your present war establishment (at which
units should be retained) should be returned to India in drafts. In addition
as shipping becomes available it is proposed to send out from India a draft
of 200 men for each unit retained, and thus release an equivalent number of
men for return to India and disposal under our demobilization scheme. State
your proposals regarding numbers to be granted periodical leave to India.
IY. Regarding other arms of the service separate telegram will follow.

  • Minor details of a Court of Enquiry held at Kasvin [Qazvin] into the mismanagement of government funds
