from Raselain is not via Mardin but via Tel Erman and Nisibin, and 15 days
is the time usually taken to do the march.
It is stated by a Turkish paroled officer of Mosul that, as water is scarce on
direct route to Mosul, it is probable the Turks will use the route from Raselain

This journey takes 16 days, 7 day’s march to Jezireh, 1 day’s halt there, and 8
days thence by raft.

June 24th. There is no change in the situation on Tigris Line-
Situation on Euphrates Line.
It is reported that ill feeling is arising between the Abudah tribe around
Shatrat-al-Muntafik, degree sheet 3-1 and the Khaffajah their southern
neighbours.
Both these tribes are strongly hostile to us. The two neighbouring tribes to
the east the Benzi Zaid and Albusaad who are also strongly hostile are reported
to be joining the Khaffajah. Any such conflict amongst these hostile tribes will
act as a set off against any notion of conceited action by the anti-British tribes
of the Shatt-al-Hai and is to our advantage.
