This item consists of copies of correspondence, consultations, memoranda, resolutions, and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. The item concerns the Arabic version of article 4 of the Moresby Treaty, which, unlike the English copy, does not mention the obligation of the Imaum of Muscat [Imam of Muscat, Sayyid Sa‘īd bin Sulṭān Āl Bū Sa‘īd] to assist in seizing British subjects engaged in the trade in enslaved people.
