p 3171 ] 5909. Following From Vice-Consul, Ahwaz, to His Majesty’s Minister,
Tehran : —
So far as can he judged from here, Rakhtiari situation gives no
cause for anxiety. Loan of our mountain-gun section which has met with
far greater success than was anticipated, has had an excellent effect on our
relations with Khans, and is reacting to our benefit on Kughelus generally.
Appointment of Bakhtiari Governor at Ispahan has also had a good effect.
“lllkhaniand Illbegi and Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Fatheh at present enjoy undisputed
authority over Rakhtiari tribes, most of whom are represented in their •
(? camp), and as long as this combination continues intrigues in north
should make little headway.
