tonnage (1) Railways are at present carrying about 350 tone
of Military Scores daily from Kut to Bagdad 250 from Basrah
to Bagdad and 100 from Hillah Bullabunt and can guarantee
Z - * priority up to these figures from lst 0 April 0 (2) k* the Euphrates
line becomes more developed its carrying capacity with the
existir^ stock will rise to about 1000 tons per day provided
the requirements of the left bank system remains as at present,,
(3) I understand that Army requirements are estimated at about
600 tons per day from Basrah to Bagdad and 100 tons per day from
Hillah Bullabunt,, (4) Later on durirg the year we can guarantee
priority up to these figures n ice 350 tons Kut Bagdad 450 tons
Basrah,, Bagdad and 100 tons Hillah Bagdad or alternatively if the
Kut line is closed down 800 tons Basra Bagdad and 10G tons Hillah
Bagdado (5) It is not possible for the moment to say when I shall
be able to carry these traffic but it is hoped to do so in 1920
(6) The figures given would need modifications if military demands
on metre gauge lines north of Bagdad were materially increased
over present normal requiren»ntSo (7) It is noted that we are
asked only for a guarantee of priority which is a very different
