and generally stablise these areas. He fears, hov^ever.
so.^e of tnose he would particularly like to get hold of, such
as Mirza,.son of the late Mir Barkat - a former well-known
outlaw, will put to set on his approach and make for the Arab
coast where they apparently have associates and in the absence
of any Iranian Naval craft to co-operate in the operations
they will evade him.
The G.O.C. said that a short time ago when a band of
Hirza 1 s^ men went to the Jask aerodrome and seized the A.I.O.C.
depot there, he had to send reinforcements from Charbar by
sailing craft which took 34 days over the journey. In a clash
which followed the arrival of reinforcements, 29 of the bandits
were killed and 30 rifles were captured. Some of those killed
were found to be Arabs while most of the rifles bore the name
of Ibn Sa’ud. The General stated that the Iranian coastal
bandits are always able to replenish their arms and ammunition
on the Arab coast in exchange for the human beings they carry
off from Iran.
