The letter contains information the Resident has obtained regarding the capture of a vessel, the Shannon , which was previously owned by Mahomed Nebee Khan [Muḥammad Nabī Khān]. It further reports that it is believed that the English captain and crew have been killed and advocates that action should be taken against the pirates.

One enclosure; a translation of a letter from Hajee Mohumed Jemaul Kongoon of [Kangān] Congoon, received 2 December 1807. It details the circumstances surrounding the capture of the Shannon by the Jowasme [ Qāsimī One of the ruling families of the United Arab Emirates; also used to refer to a confederation of seafaring Arabs led by the Qāsimī tribe from Ras al Khaima. ] tribe near the Island of Soorree.
