It was by an oversight that I stated in my
letter FP 2038/82 of the 22nd August that one of tie
portraits was of the Sheikh of Kov/eit: actually
this one is of the Sheikh of Bahrein.
It is now proposed to include a portrait of the
Sheikh of Koweit in this series, if this idea is
politically acceptable. Would you please let us have
a ruling, and also indicate whether the enclosed
portrait (which the

The file also includes correspondence in connection with another letter from the Ministry of Information to the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. , seeking the latter’s advice as to whether enclosed coloured portraits of Emir Abdullah of Transjordan Used in three contexts: the geographical region to the east of the River Jordan (literally ‘across the River Jordan’); a British protectorate (1921-46); an independent political entity (1946-49) now known as Jordan [IOR/L/PS/12/3942, f 21], the Sultan of Muscat and Oman [IOR/L/PS/12/3942, f 22], and the Shaikh of Bahrein [Bahrain] [IOR/L/PS/12/3942, f 23] should be used for distribution on a large scale in the Middle East, especially in the Hadhramaut and the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
