Sir,
I have the honour to forward herewith the annual
report of the Bahrain State for 1549 together with new
Budget for 1350. This is the sixth Budget 'which I have had
the honour of submitting to you.
The year 1349 has Been a very disastrous one finan
cially, the revenue of the State has decreased to an
alarming extent, tfith the exception of work on the
Manamah-MuharracL road, the Building of the Quarantine
and the payment of the Bal nce of the Lanamah Electric
scheme, no important new works have Been carried out.
It has Been necessary to draw on the funds, which
are invested in Bombay, to the extent of Bs. 1,70,000/-.
At the end of 1348 the total Balance of the State* s
funas was Bs .3,40,365/- not including Bs.300,000/- reserve
At the end of 1349 the total Balance was Bs. 1,13,856/-/2.
and a reserve fund of Bs.3,00,000/-.
when making the Budget for 1349 i was aware that the
year was likely to Be a Bad one and therefore 1 allowed
for a decrease in the revenue of Bs.83,000/“ less tn.an
