1. Does the political effect of B.B.C. Arabic
news bulletin diminishes because it follows
the entertainment programme rather than precede
it as in the case of Zeesen and Bari?
2. Would it be advantageous or otherwise if the
B.B.C. Arabic news were to be broadcast near
the beginning of Arabic programme in such a way
as to coincide with Bari transmission?
5. Is it politically advantageous invariably to
commence the B.B.C. Arabic news bulletin with
items dealing with prowess of the Britain’s
’Armed Forces’? For example was it wise to
precede first the announcement of outstanding
naval achievement at the Taranto by 2 pure
Muslim items of King Farouke speech to the
Egyptian Parliament and tribute to late Egvptian
Premier?
Members were of the opinion that the news
bulletin should precede the entertainment programme
but should'not commence the broadcast. 5.15 G-.M.T.
was suggested as the most suitable time for the news
bulletin.
It was generally agreed that very few people
listen oo ohe lualian Station at Bari and therefore
it would make no difference if the B.B.C. Arabic news
coincided with the Bari transmission.
All the members present considered that Islamic
news should come first.
