My chief news-reporter who has been at Yazdan has just returned.
Though Yazdan is m Persian territory he found an Afghan party of one
Dafadar A Non-Commissioned Officer in the Indian Cavalry. , ^asin Khan, and eleven sowars staying there. They had been there
10 days. On arrival of a few Persian infantrymen from Birjand they left
quietly, former have however declared that it is their intention to depart soon
as they are not getting supplies; on September 12th after leaving Yazdan for
Ahwaz my reporter met Paschen and five sowars near Karez-i-Malki. They
were on the way back to Afghanistan. I hear from two other sources that a
dozen Afghans have been purchasing stocks of fodder and grain in various
Persian villages between Duroh and Yazdan. They left stocks in Situ. In
some villages the Persian Sunnis of Sunnikhana have not sold as they feared
that they would incur the Shaukat's displeasure. It appears that later on
Germans hope to lead an Afghan force down the frontier to Sistan.
