I have the honour to refer to the Embassy’s note
No.553, of July 30, 1941, regarding the desire of the
United States Navy Department to order Lieutenant (j.g.)
Derwood W. Lockard, United States Naval Reserve, as Naval Observer
at Bahrain, and to state that the Embassy has now received
tne further information that Lieutenant Lockard was commissioned
an officer in the United States Naval Reserve, on May 5, 1941,
and that he will not be accompanied by any dependents upon his
departure for Bahrain.
It will be appreciated if the Embassy may be informed
whether Lieutenant Lockard*s assignment is agreeable to His
Msj esty' s Governing a* - .
