About this record

Content

Letter regarding a serious row on board the ships Lynn and Nimble. The row is described as being caused by a Scotch Man who had returned to his ship (the Nimble) in a state of mutiny and had put a pistol to the head of the first Lieutenant from the Lynn who had come aboard to deliver a letter.

The letter goes on to report that the Lynn has since departed Bahrein for Augaum [Henjam] and Lingah [Bandar-e-Lengeh] to await instructions and that he does not expect either vessel to remain in the Gulf.

The letter concludes by referring to three other incidents involving these vessels which he considers to be serious and that Captain Keats (of the Lynn ) expected to be ordered to Bombay immediately; and informing Pelly that they may require another ship in the Gulf.
