About this record

Content

The letter is instructing the Resident that the pension of Aga Mahomed Ismael Khan [Āghā Muḥammad Ismā’īl Khān] is to be continued to be paid to his agent Aga Mahomed Comsay. Though it states that if the pension is not used to support his family, which was a factor determining the award of said pension, the Bombay Government will make other arrangements.

Enclosed with the letter is a copy of a letter from Aga Mahomed Comsay to James Henderson, Secretary to the Government, Bombay, dated 17 May 1819. It claims that Aga Mahomed Ismail Khan is the lawful son and heir to Hanjee Khuleel Khan [Hājjī Qulī Khān], and is entitled to manage the pension granted to him by the British as he sees fit. The letter includes details on Aga Mahomed Ismail's immediate relatives.
