The letter is requesting that the Resident obtain reparation for the owner of the Narrain Pupaud , captured by Joasemee [ Qawāsim One of the ruling families of the United Arab Emirates; also used to refer to a confederation of seafaring Arabs led by the Qāsimī tribe from Ras al Khaima. ] pirates.
Enclosed is a letter from Charles William Elwood, Agent to the Government, to Francis Warden, dated 14 August [? 1816], requesting assistance to release Hurres Kussun and Pukeer Ny-eeo, Banyans, who are held hostage by Joasemee pirates and cannot afford to pay their ransom.
This letter in turn encloses a translation of a statement by Vesee Ram Bhuggut, a 'vagrant' of Porebundar [Porbandar], dated 14 August 1816, describing an attack by Joasemee pirates on the boat Narrain Pupaud near Muscat which he was travelling on at the time.
Also enclosed is a letter from Charles William Elwood to Francis Warden, dated 12 October 1816, explaining when a British pass was issued to the Narrain Pupaud .
