mound about a mile inland are the remains of a
round or rather cylindrical building, like a minaret,
but apparently solid; it is much ruined at the bottom,
and is laced with fine brick-work. The top is quite
ruined, and only a few yards of it are standing.

We were again detained a few minutes by coming
against the bank. AVe passed some Zobeid Arabs;
they extend from Hameira to Koot, and inland as
far as Affejf.
In rounding into the next reach we were again
detained a little by the yacht running against the

to at a quarter to six for dinner, and set off again at
half past eight.
