Content: The letter is a covering letter, relating to the kidnap and sale of a Somallee [Somali] girl by an inhabitant of Soor [Ṣūr]. Enclosed with the letter is an extract of paragraph 15 from despatch no.30 of 1855 (folio 178) from the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. , dated 19 December 1855, stating that in the event of the Somali girl’s return, the Imam of Muscat and his authorities will be held responsible for their promise of punishing the kidnapper.
