About this record
- Content
The letter is enclosing a copy and translation of a communication received from the Armeen u Dowlah. This enclosure explains that Merza Mohadee, confidential agent of the Armeen u Dowlah, is being sent to India to collect the money drawn on by the British Ambassador to Persia, Sir Gore Ouseley. It instructs the Lieutenant to provide every assistance in faciltating his passage.
In the letter, Lieutenant Robert Taylor is vouching for the character of Merza Mohadee and notes that the Lieutenant has been directed by Sir Gore Ouseley to give the subject in question as much assistance as he requires (within the Lieutenant's power) while he is residing at Bushire, and to assist with his departure for India. It is indicated that any hospitality that the Governor General may be inclined to bestow on him once he is in India will be viewed favourably by the Armeen u Dowlah.
