The letter concerns the appearance of piracy in the Gulf and outlines a report that part of the Joasimese tribe have put nine boats to sea to deter or tackle pirates; Mahomud Jaffer Khan [Muḥammad Ja‘afar Khān] has offered to assist with the object of this mission. The letter further notes that Captain Sealey intends for the Benares to travel to friendly ports throughout the Gulf with requests that vessels provide assistance to these boats as opportunities arise.
