The letter is acknowledging the receipt of a communication, dated 19 March 1822. In response, it explains the background behind two bills negotiated at Bushire by James Dow A term adopted by British officials to refer to local sailing vessels in the western Indian Ocean. during his time in charge at the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. ; the bills were drawn by Lieutenant Price.
