The letter is acknowledging the commands of the Bombay Government, dated 12 January 1822. In response, it states that neither the Resident, nor Captain Sumley gave any indication to Ahmed Uzem [Aḥmad ‘Aẓīm] that his boats were safe from capture during an attack on Mocka [Al-Mukhā] by a British squadron.
