Letter regarding Pelly's recent illness; rumours that he may be considering a position on the Council of India; his possible return to India with Lord Lytton and general political musings.
The letter also encloses a press cutting (folio 84) from an Indian newspaper (possibly the Bombay Times ) which consists of a poem written by Seward about Russia's advances.The press cutting has Seward's name written across it in ink along with his initials and the year 1873, as well as some corrections to the text in ink.
