15GO. Officers in charge of hospital ships or Officers Commanding transports wd
respectively arrange for the effects of Officers, Warrant Officers, Non-commissioned
officers and men of the British and Indian Army who die on- board being secure y
packed and the packages sealed. Inventories to be made out to enclose with eac
package. All such packages to be handed over to the Embarkation Staff at the poi o
destination from whom receipts should be obtained.
1361. Isolation Hospitals have been established as under :—
Isolation Hospital, Basrah (250 beds) ; with effect from 7th May, 1916. ^
Isolation Hospital, Amarah (250 beds) ; with effect from 19th July, 191b.
POSTAL 1362. Owing to the difficulty of providing and maintaining Post Office establish
ments, and the difficulties of getting money from officers in the field down to the Base,
the Value Payable Parcel system at present in existence between Bombay 7 an
Basrah will be discontinued.
Officers are reminded it is easier for them to make deposits or send remittances to
creditable firms, rather than arrange to pay for and get up V.P. parcels consigned
to Basrah.
