FRANCE’S GIFT TO MARSHAL FOCH.
NVITATIONS TO TENDER.
SPORTS AND GAMES.
The French Government has given as
esidence to Marshal Foch the Hotel de Sens,
138 me de Grenelle, recently the Headquarters
{the Army Staff, and occupied in succession by
Generals de Boisdeffre, Miribel, and Pendezec.
After the Armistice Marsal Petain used the build
ing as his offices, which are now to be transferred
to the Invalids. The mansion, which is hence
forth to be known as the Hotel du Marechal
Foch, was built by Jean Oourtonne, and finished
in 1724. Louvet, the famous member of the
Convention, moved into the mansion his book
seller’s shop, which had previously been situated
in the Palais-Royal in 1797, and died in his new
abode the same year.

TO CARRY 16 PASSENGERS AND 1,500
POUNDS OF MAIL.
London, September 15th.
A telegram from New York says that a
company holding American Post Office mail
contracts to the value of £140,000 sterling is
building aircraft described as “flying palaces,”
with standard sleeping berths and all modern
conveniences, accommodating sixteen passengers
and carrying 1,500 pounds of mails.

The Imperial Bank of Persia, Kran Draft on
Teheran was Krans 280 per Rs. 100.
Imperial Ottoman Bank. Sterling Draft on
London Rs. 1,080 per £100.

Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Proclamation
published on December 12th, 1919, and March

CUSTOMS NOTICE.
SEA CUSTOMS ACT 1878.
Notice is hereby given that, under the provi
sions of Section 88 of the Sea Customs Act, 1878,
there will be sold by public auction at Margil
Wharves, Basrah, on Monday the 18th October
next at 10 O’clock forenoon :—
11 Packages or thereby of goods lying in
the Lockfast at Margil.
15 Packages or thereby of goods lying at
No. 1 Dump, Margil, which packages have not
been entered and cleared, nor warehoused within
the statutory period of 4 months from dates of
entry of various vessels.

Tenders are invited for making and sewing
120,000 Sbeleefsat Advanced Supply Depot, Right
Bank for a period of (3) three months.
The Sheleefs are to be made of double thick
ness of Hessian, and double string will be used
for sewing.
Hessian and String will be provided by
Government.
Each Sheleef will measure 9 feet X 4 feet.
Tenders are to be submitted in writing.
Tenderers must deposit Earnest money to the
value of Rs. 300 which will be refunded to the
unsuccessful tenderers.
All tenders must be placed in the box kept
for that purpose at the Office of the O.C., R.A.S.C.,
17th Divisional Area, Karradah, Billet No. 11.
Tenders must be submitted by 12 o’clock
noon on 24th September 1920.
No tenders subsequently received will be
considered.
The D. D. of S. & T. does not bind himself
to accept the lowest or any tender.
