Situation on Hamadan Road. 22nd March 1018
1. At Hamadan . is General Dunsterville with Colonel Clutterblck
4 Staff and 7 other officers and 4 other ranks.
In addition there are General Baratoff with a few
Russian officers and Colonel Bichar koff with an
unknown number of unreliable men. The latter will
leave Hamadan for Kasvin on 38th March, when Hamadan
will be totally devoid of troops.
A Bolshevik Committee arrived at Hamadan on the 13th
March and a detachment of Red guards were reported to
be following, and the situation on the 17th was reports
to be incre: singly serious.
Both Marling and Dunsterville have heard of a plot or
couo by the enemy which is likely to materialize about
April 8th.
In spite of other reports of famine conditio s at
Hamadan, Dunsterville reports that directly he can
got a squadron to bring in supplies, he can subsist
1000 men at Hamadan, 500 at Asadabad and 500 at K ngav*
Arrangements for landing of aeroplanes have been made
at Hamadan and Kermanshah.
2. En route to Hamadan
Dunstervilles second party of 18 officers and 11 other
ranks left Khanikin on the llth March and should be
now at or beyond Kermanshah.
3. On the road between Kasr i Shirin and Kermanshah
May possibly be 8 armoured cars.
4. At Karind and Sar i Mil (170 miles from Hamadan)
are infantry detachments. Other det chments are probab^r
being pushed on to g rrison points between this and
Kermanshah. Suoplies are oractically non existent in
this section, there is considerable snow, and the
weather is very bad.
