Kashkuli Khans for protection of their employes and plant in the Dasht-i-Qil
Doubtless the chief reason for their protests to His Majesty^ Legation is
the successful intrigues of Soulet-ed-Douleh in Tehran, whereby he has in
gratiated himself with His Imperial Ma jesty the Shah and the Prime Minister,
and is acclaimed a hero by the Nationalists and Democrats.
Soulet’s object is, of course, to force the Anglo-Persian Oil Company to
pay him as large a subsidy as possible to refrain from interference in a hairs a
Dasht-i-Qil, but if the Anglo-Persian Oil Company could ascertain before
Sir A. T. Wilson meets Soulet whether the prospects of finding oil in Soulet s
own special territory are promising, then possibly an agreemen ccu
eluded with him which would be advantageous to both parties. lam, there o,
inclined to the view that it would he expedient for Sir A T. Wilson to meet
Soulet fairly soon in the latter’s own country; but I shall he seeing * he ^ orm ®£
at Mohammerah towards the end of this week and I will report further to
Government after discussion with him.
