845. The following stores are to be returned through the medium of the Army
Ammunition Park, to the Advanced Base Ammunition Depot :—
Empty metal cartridge case of all natures of gun ammunition,
Empty small arm ammunition cases.
Fired tubes, friction, and tubes V.S.
Plugs, fuze hole special, No. 1.
„ „ „ 2-inch, No. 2.
| Metal and rubber fuze covers.
„ , ... , Fired primers.
Safety caps removed from D.A. fuses Nos. 44, 17 and 106.
Safety clips front 13 and 18 pdr. ammunition.
Projectile slings. | Fuze cylinders and tin boxes.
4.5" Howitzer cartridge case tins together with special rubber covers.
Unused cartridges and portions of cartridges, including all howitzer and trench
mortar cartridges.
Empty ammunition boxes of all natures.
Fired brass cartridge cases of 13 and 18-pdr. guns and 4.5" howitzer are to be
retm ed, packed as far as possible in the boxes belonging to those natures of
ammunition.
The following method of packing 13 and 18-pdr.. cases is to be adopted :—
I he clips having been first removed, the cases are packed in two layers, four*cases
on the bottom and four on the top layer. In the bottom layer the thin ends of two
cases, butt against the end of the box, and the thin ends of the other two against the
bases of the first pair. For the second layer the positions are. reversed.
"eat care is to be taken that explosives of any kind (such as cordite rings,
1 c ona oi s, fuzes etc,) are not left in packages returned as empties, or as containing fired
cases.
