porolst—Being interested in the sale of provisions for the use of some of His Majesty’s
5°e 1 Dehat hera t.Ashar on or about the 16th of December, 1916. when in charge
NADepot Unit of Supply, received from one Adamapoulos of Messrs. Giocolas and
Adamapoulos a firm of contractors engaged in important contracts for the Army in
' esopotamia, the sum of Rs3,000, being a share of the profits on a sale of ghee which
was for the use of a part of His Majesty’s Forces.

3rd.—Conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, in that he,
at Ashar, on or about the 16th December, 1916. when in charge of the No. 1 Depot
Unit of Supply, accepted from the firm of contractors mentioned in the first charge a
present of two Persian carpets, valued at approximately Rs 1,000, thereby contravening
paragraph 448 of the King’s Regulations.
4th.—Conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, in that he,
at Ashar, between the 1st August and J 8th December, 1916, when in charge of the
No. 1 Depot Unit of Supply, was unduly familiar with his subordinates, playing cards
with and otherwise consorting with them on terms of equality, and thus failed to exact
the respect due to his position as an officer.
5th.—Neglect to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, in that he, at
Ashar, between the 1st April and 30th September, 1916, when in charge of the No. 1
Depot Unit of Supply, allowed (10) ten per cent, of the total amount of meat issued to
be written off as “ dryage and wastage,” although any dryage and wastage should have
been written off only in respect of dead meat, and thereby caused a loss to the public of
Rs 30, >00 approximately.
Finding:—" Not guilty of the 2nd charge but guilty of the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th
charges.”
Sentence :—“ To be cashiered and to be imprisoned with hard labour for two (2)
years.”
The finding and sentence has been duly confirmed by the Army Commander.

185. Except when engaged’ on Service matters of urgency no horses or other
animals are to proceed at a faster pace than at a walk when passing through the
thoroughfares of the City. .
2. Soldiers carrying slung rifles are to act as follows on meeting an Officer .
If both hands are free, and the soldier sees the Officer he is to salute in sufficient
time, the rifle is to be brought to the “slope,” and the salute made in the usual way.
If the soldier has not got his hands free to enable him to make the necessary
movements in order to get the rifle to the " slope,” or if the Officer is not seen in time
the salute is to be made by turning the head to the right or left as the case may be.
186. Orders for the trial of inhabitants of the country are published as an
Annexure to this Order, and are in supersession of all other orders on the subject.
