D«ar Mr. Grant,
In ay last letter I referred to the looting
of the camels of the returning Kafila A train of travellers; a caravan; or any large party of travellers. * As a sequel
to this it appears that the AJU 8 haddad f a powerful
j?adli tribe numbering 600 f hare gone to the Sultan
demanding the restoration of the camels, and threat
ening that if not restored they will retaliate by
attacking the Lahej route and Lahej itself. They are
said to be backed by all the kadli tribesmen who hare
demanded free access to Aden. It is rsported that
the Sultan has written to Saeed Pasha An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. demanding the
return of the camels and declining all responsibility
in the event of their non-return.
Letters from the Zubedi Sheikh, with an en
closure from Sayid Abdul Wahab, the deputy Governor
of An-Madra Bamar and Yarim, confirm the ne^s o* the
disturbances round Ibb and B 1 Odain* i?rom t
letters it also appears that a settlement has been
arrived at through the intervention of the Imam.
Sayid kahomed Darwish reports that his
brother Abdulla in conjunction with the Sheikhs of
Mares, Sha 1 aib, Mawa and Juban have attacked and
occupied the village of iiha&iab near ivataba. Three
Turkish telegraph officials are reported as killed.
He also reports that fighting has ceased in the
neighbourhood of Sanaa#
