Sharif Husain has elected for himself such a line
of conduct wherewith he disclaimed the performance of tee
duties of dutifulness to that Government which has
fattened his kidneys and benefitted him with the privilege
of becoming the successor of his ancestors, but he has
joined the English Government, relied on her promises and
was duped by her deceits. As a result of that our
armies had to beleaguer him in Mecca, Jedda and Taif and
after his confederacy was broken up and his forces were
dispersed he had to resort to one of the steamers of the
English which was then anchoring in the Jedda harbour.
The sublime Ottoman Government has appointed Sharif All
Ryder bin Abdul Mut-ta-lib, as his substitute who has
already left Constantinople for Mecca where all the Arabs
have tendered their submission to him and in consequence
of the same sequence of events they are invariably the
same as they were once before.
Pilgrimage to Mecca is now-a-days liable to be
interfered with by sea because the English Government
has made her subjects to understand that the Turks
would plunder the pilgrims who are subjects to foreign
Government but this is one of the many of their Knavish,
' false and fraudulent tricks. She has preferred to say
so in order to counteract the defamatory statement she had
made in her circulars which she had distributed in the
beginning of the war and shortly after Sharif Husain
had resorted to her.' The defamatory statement was to
the effect that the English Government would not do any
harm to the people of Hedjaz. that no hinderance would be
