Letter regarding the urgent need for funds to pay the Government establishments at Gwadur [Gwadar], Mekran Coast and the Gun Boat and the Telegraph station being in immediate need of stores and Hugh Rose requiring some stores shortly too and suggesting that the Gun Boat could be sent to Kurrachee [Karachi] if money and stores are not procurable in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
Below the letter is a reply from James Charles Edwards, dated 28 July 1866, informing Captain Warner that he will send the request to the Resident [Colonel Pelly] who is expected to be visiting Gwadur on Berenice .
On the reverse is a letter from James Charles Edwards to Colonel Pelly, 28 July 1866 regarding his reply to Captain Warner and his feeling that the Gun Boat should remain at Gwadur if possible but that the lack of funds could be embarrassing to the Government.
A further letter from James Charles Edwards to Colonel Pelly, 29 July 1866, is also on the reverse of the letter regarding the Gun Boat Hugh Rose 's departure for Kurrachee and Edwards concerns that it may be needed, particularly given Syed Turki [Turki bin Said]'s intentions of moving on Muskat [Muscat] and concerns that there could be problems arising from this.
